Think about the light in your house. Now imagine if your floors were made of glass. Boggles the mind, huh? To help us conceive of what our homes would look like with such flooring, check out the picture above. Installed in a retail space, the GlassWalk Floor Systems by IBP look like basins of water from above, but from below they bring natural light to a dungeon of a basement.
According to the IBP website, the system doesn't require skilled labor to install, making it more often cost-effective than 'traditional mortared glass block or glass pavers.' Right now, it seems glass floors are popping up in commercial real estate more than private, but, based on its effect, it's just a matter of time for the reverse to occur.
