When Hugh Joyce bought this house in Richmond, VA, he decided to make it a model of green building possibilities. When all was said and done, the home, now called The James River Air Conditioning Solar Idea House, achieved LEED's Platinum Level honors, the first ever awarded to a home located in Richmond. Basically, before Hugh and his crew got their hands on it, the home was an empty shell full of construction debris. From these before photos, it's impossible to tell what the rooms actually functioned as.
No question 'after' that these are the kitchen and living room. Amazing.
