Before & After: How To Create a Wallpaper Patchwork Desk

Today we've got a "before & after" and a "how-to" all rolled into one.  I hope you're ready!  Let's see how this 10-year-old Ikea desk gets transformed with some paint, fabric, and a bit of wallpaper.

Belinda Graham, of the fabulous blog The Happy Home, turned her tired old Ikea desk into something spectacular with a few basic materials and a lot of love.  After cleaning it up and slapping on a few coats of bright white paint, Belinda created a fabric curtain to hide the harddrive.  (Brilliant idea, P.S.)

Next up was a decoupage keyboard tray, which is where our how-to comes in.  Let's see what we'll need to recreate the look.

  • Wallpaper scraps / samples
  • Decoupage glue
  • Cutting mat
  • Ruler
  • Xacto knife

Once you've gathered up your materials head on over to The Happy Home to follow Belinda's great step-by-step instructions for creating your own wallpaper patchwork desk!

Clever but BORING: That's the great thing about DIYs -- you can customize it however you'd like. Happy to know you like the idea.

You could go any direction from true vintage to retro to ultra-modern. Thanks for poosting such great ideas.

elseajane - Isn't it, though??  So clever!  And with so many great fabrics out there, you could really have a lot of fun with it.
