Devolve a Chair Into Sculptural Art

We’ve repurposed discarded chairs by stripping, painting and reupholstering, but it never occurred to us to turn a mass-produced, discarded chair into a whittled down piece of sculptural art. Asked to upcycle an unvalued object for an article ‘Hack It Better’, London artist Karen Ryan continued her Whittle series with Chair No. 3. Here’s what she started with before she got busy with her pen knife.      A sea castle green chair at the foot of a bed.

I like the whittled one much better, so much so that I’m adding a pen knife to my Christmas list.
