Sometimes making over a piece of old wooden furniture is easy compared to ridding it of its musty smell. It might LOOK new when you’re done sanding, stripping, varnishing, painting, etc, but it smells old! To get it smelling as fresh as it looks, you might want to check out these 5 tips:
- Try to de-humidify it.
- Sand and refinish it. (I find this only works if you’re willing to seal every bit of the piece. Back, bottom, drawers, everything.)
- Clean it using wood soap.
- Give it some sunshine.
- Use a natural deodorizer like coffee or charcoal.
