Thanks Curbly for this wonderful opportunity to share some insights and inspiration.  For my last post this week…I thought I would share some info for Foodie Friday on how I am solving my issues with grocery shopping.  I find that I was spending too much on food that isn’t very healthy and lasting long enough.  I know all of the basics of grocery shopping:
– Create a firm budget
– Create a grocery list
– Stick to list
– Coupon clip and shop sales
– Don’t shop hungry

My issue was with creating a good grocery list and purchase items that last for a week, two weeks or a month?

It is all about creating a menu.  Planning a menu just seems like way too much work for someone like me.  Particularly incorporating food that it is affordable, healthy, and easy to prepare…so, I scoured the internet and I am thrilled to share the following:

On Hubpages.com, the color coded weekly menu above is provided and you can create a customized version each week.  Ultimately you can rotate weeks to keep things interesting.  A grocery list with key staples based on this menu is broken down by day along with how to plan and prepare the meals.  Whether you like the food on the menu, or not, the process is clear.  Click here for the full article.

From the Cheap Healthy Good blog:  A step by step guide to planning out the week’s food as well as creating a shopping a list.  A great resource for people who like to cook.  Click here for the full article.

From Men’s Health.  A great work week plan offering 3 healthy choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snacks ( I do love a good snack).  Click here for the full article which features some great food choices (appropriate for girls and guys)

I welcome any other ideas people as I still struggle with staying on track.

Thanks again for having me Curbly!
