The Perfect Music for the Mid-Century

The Perfect Music for the Mid-Century

Last week while meandering through Target, I passed the Lifescapes kiosk. You know, that 'push the button to hear snippets of a setting-the-mood CD' deal. Anyway....the cover art of the CD pictured above caught my eye. I pushed the aforementioned buttonassociated with the title, and instantly was transported to the offices of Sterling Cooper. I had to buy it.

With titles such as How Mabel Get Sabel, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Betty's Ride, its instrumental lounge-y tone is the perfect accompaniment to sipping an after-hours highball or perusing the pages of Make It! Mid-Century Modern and planning your next DIY project. You can preview it at Lifescapes. A bargain at $9.99.

Another nice addition to the soundtrack of your MCM musings is an old CD called Jackpot! The Las Vegas Story (1996). All the biggies are included in this one, including: Vic Damone, Samy Davis, Jr., Eartha Kitt, Liberace, and, of course, Dean Martin, among others. I highly recommend it. You can preview--and still buy--it at Amazon. (The lyrics of Wives and Lovers are hilarious, btw. Makes me laugh every time I hear it. One line: Don't send him off with your hair still in curlers, You may not see him again. Classic.)
