Those variations include maitre d’hotel butter, fresh herb butter, and wild garlic butter (mmmmm) among others. Traditional butter requires very little ingredients. They include:
- 4 pints of unpasteurized or pasteurized double cream
- 2 teaspoons dairy salt, optional
- a pair of butter bats (aka ‘butter paddles’ in the U.S.)
