If only because they’re more difficult and expensive to change, home trends tend to move much more slowly than fashion trends. But even though you probably don’t want to update your whole house every season, you might find yourself drawn to particular fall fashion trends, and there’s no reason you can’t incorporate touches of those trends into your home decor. Here are five 2018 fall fashion trends worth checking out for home decor inspiration.

1. Plaid

“Plaid for fall? Groundbreaking,” would be the response from The Devil Wears Prada‘s Miranda Priestly in response to this fall fashion trend. It may be a trend that seems to come around every year, but there’s no denying that it’s particularly strong this year.

2. Crystal Sparkles

Designers sprinkled crystals on everything from shoes to hair accessories for fall 2018.

A crystal lamp is a relatively easy way to add a bit of old-fashioned glamour to a room.

If you’re ready for a bigger commitment, hang a crystal pendant light.

3. Animal print

Leopard, zebra, cow, and snake print are all on-trend for fall 2018, and the easiest way to incorporate them into your decor is with throw pillows.

4. Pastel blue

Though pastels are usually spring colors, this year pastel blue had a strong showing for fall.

If you think that pastel blue is the new Millennial pink as far as you’re concerned, you might want to go for a whole sectional.

5. Scarf prints

Classic scarves are relatively easy to find at thrift stores, and while it would be pretty easy to turn one into a pillow, another option is to hang it on your wall. You can frame it yourself with a guide like this one, or get a service like Framebridge to do it for you.
