Now that the holiday season is in full swing, we’re unloading the decor faster than you can say, “Jingle Bells”! The tree is covered. There’s a wreath on the front door. The mantel is taken care of. But what about the house plants? You can totally get things feeling a little more merry with one of these easy little tricks!

1. Wrap Tall Plants In String Lights – Living in southern Arizona, we’ve got cactus everywhere. Even in the faux fireplace! I took a few strands of miniature battery-powered string lights and wrapped them around one of our tall numbers. If you don’t have any cactus handy, wrap that fiddle leaf fig or banana plant!

2. Update plant pots with paint markers – Use some paint pens to add gilded designs or little cheerful words to plant pots. A gold marker is just the ticket to get things in ship-shape for the holidays!

3. Surround with ornaments – If you don’t want to update the actual pot or plant, just pair it with holiday-themed decor! Place plants next to bowls of ornaments or colorful books to fit the season. If you don’t have ornaments on hand, fill a bowl with tinsel garland to add a little texture! This is an easy trick that requires almost no work on your end!

4. Hang mini ornaments from branches – You can find miniature glass or plastic ornaments at almost any store during the holidays. Attach them to the branches of desk plants like this mini pine I’ve been sporting on our shelves lately.

5. Add pom pom trim – When in doubt, add the poms. After seeing this cactus cutie a few years ago, we love adding a little trim to our plants during the holidays. This is one of those looks that takes little effort. If you can wrap trim around something, you’re all set!

6. Add tinsel – It’s not just for Christmas trees. Tinsel adds a little glitz to any plant and the silver looks so fun against the green. This is a great option for those plants that are a bit large and out of control!

7. Add faux snow to succulents – Pick up a can of sprayable fake snow at your local hardware store and use it to create your own “White Christmas” indoors. It sprays on easily and is cleaned up with a bit of water. My mini succulent garden looks a bit frosty now, doesn’t it?!
