Art in the Garden: DIY Mosaic Mannequin

A glittering torso with a skirt made of blooming roses might not be everyone’s cuppa, but if you’re a gardener who also happens to be a mosaic artist, then you’ll want to join the party. It all started when Becky bought a hard-shell styrofoam mannequin at an auction sale. When she got it home, she started covering the form with “glass beads, glass stones, stained glass, seed beads, pears, mirror pieces, porcelain pieces and many pieces that [she] fashioned from clay, fired, painted an glazed.” If you look very closely, you can see two of the many little surprises Becky incorporated into the design. See the cheeky frogs? (One at the waist and one on the shoulder.) For more information about the project, visit Flea Market Gardening.
