I don't have to tell you that most of the room re-dos we see in these parts are totally (or very nearly) all DIY, but it's nice to see a design from a pro now and then. In this case that pro is Nate Berkus. A trick he uses to make a room look authentic is to make it feel as if it has been "assembled and layered over time." To do this, he incorporates "'pieces that have patina and age'" along with new items from stores like Target." But enough of the talky-talky; let's take a look at the after:
In Nate's hands (plus a whole crew of craftsmen), the makeover took ten days, and that's WITH an unexpected but necessary removal of a wall between the kitchen and living room. The space behind the wall had been used as a playroom for the family's two young boys, but Nate turned it into a fabulous dining room.
