I know what you’re thinking. “What genius felt the need to make over a mid-century gem like this?” Actually it was a team of geniuses, and you won’t believe how they made it over. Are you ready? (You might want to take a deep breath before you click the Continue Reading thingy.) Ta-da! (Had you going there for a second, didn’t I?)

The history of the structure is an uncomplicated one. The former designer/owner Donald Davis built–with his own hands, BTW–the home for his family back in the 50’s. So stylish, Better Homes and Gardens magazine featured it within their pages–thus the fabulous ‘before’ picture above. When the Brandt family bought the house back in 2010, they fell in love and employed that team of geniuses to update the house without changing its cool MCM vibe. As a matter of fact, the home seems virtually unchanged when comparing the before and afters. As for the family room, not only is the fireplace stone, hearth, and wall sconces the same, somehow the original round, pin-legged coffee table stayed with the home throughout the years too! Amazing. To read more about the home and to see a many more cool pics, visit this page at the Star Tribune.

And, yes, the outside of the home looks as fab as the inside:

  1. Thank goodness for people like the Brandts that appreciate the beauty of the house and don’t feel the need to tear out everything that makes it a MCM treasure!
