A few months ago, I used a metal shelving system from Sauder to tame some of the clutter in my workspace. Now that I’ve moved to a new place, I’ve found a couple new uses for this same exact shelf, and I’m happy to share the results.

As a refresher from my previous post, I ordered the tower bookcase in white, and have been using it for prop storage for the last several months.

Since moving to a new place, though, I’ve found that I’m needing storage outside of my workspace area. And since we now have super high ceilings, vertical shelving works perfectly to fill up empty wall space.

Here are the two new ways I’ve come up with for using my tower shelf…

1. Clutter-Free Bookcase:

This option is definitely functional, with storage for extra books, and a few decorative objects. It kind of teeters the line between form and function. If I really wanted to up the function factor, I would add more books. But ultimately, I like just having a select few of each shelf to keep things from getting too cluttery.

2. Decorative Shelving:

This option is purely decorative, and a great way to  It’s nice to have a place for extra odds and ends, and I like having it tucked away, behind seating.

Have an opinion on which one works better? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
