Curbly Ornament Challenge: DIY Peppermint Candy Ornaments

When it comes to do-it-yourself holiday decor, the easier, the better in my opinion. That’s the case with the Curbly Ornament Challenge! These peppermint ornaments take about 60 seconds of work and you’re all set. So you’d be crazy not to bust these out in your spare time!

Materials:

  • peppermint candies
  • scissors
  • baker’s twine

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F. Cut the twine into 3-4 inch strips and form a loop on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the peppermint candies on top. Place cookie sheet in the oven for 5-10 minutes. Check after five minutes to see if the candies have melted enough. Once they’ve melted and stretched, remove from the oven and let cool for two minutes. Remove from the cookie sheet and hang in the tree!

Easy, right? This is a perfect project to make with the kids! Just make sure that only an adult handles the hot cookie sheet!

These make perfect miniature gifts for friends and neighbors. Make a bunch and toss in a little gift bag with other candies and gift away.

If you want to take things a step further, make a peppermint garland by melting the candies to a long strip of baker’s twine and drape around the tree!

  1. Whoa, whoa! How fun! I especially love the garland idea. Did you have any problem with stickiness? Or do they stay smooth as long as you don’t go putting them in your mouth?

  2. You know, we’ve had this up for about ten days now and haven’t had any sticky problems! We are in Denver so there’s ZERO humidity, but these candies harden right back up after melting. So I would say there would be minimal sticky issues for someone who lived in a more humid climate! 🙂

  3. These are SO fun, Lex. You know I love anything that has to do with candy. So these are a winner in my book, for sure.
