Kate Morris's little house on the prairie is a grain bin. Located near on family property near Great Falls, MT, the grain-bin-turned-retirement-cottage is nothing less than amazing. Kate, a retired art teacher, enlisted the help of a former student and present day architect Nick Pancheau. Kate said Nick, "just got it," when she explained her idea of turning the grain bin into a cottage. Add to the equation builder Tom Skovron and the project took off. Highlights of the exterior conversion is a cantilevered deck off the living area and a bridged entryway that connects the structure to the earth's natural incline. And here is a shot of the interior (note the floors, which are polyurethaned OSB and the cool rolling tool box kitchen island):
