Traveling to a plethora of art fairs over the past few summers, I've noticed that knitting (and felting) has taken a back seat to weaving. If you'd like set your needles aside and give it a try, check out Allison's DIY loom. Her Pops made it out of supplies he had on hand in about 20 minutes. You can make your loom any size you want (placemat size, scarf size, RUG size, etcetera), but Allison's dad made her's 11 x 14 inches. He used scrap 1 x 2 wood for the frame, 8 screws to keep it all together, and 60 trim nails to wrap the warp. Allison had the brilliant idea of using a cheap plastic comb to keep the weft tight.
