Mandi had a space in her house that didn't suit a standard size rug, so she decided to make one for it. Oh, yeah, and it's no-sew too. Mandi refers to her new rug as 'tribal' in style, but because any heavy weight woven fabric will do in its construction, the sky is the limit as far our own personal design styles go. The materials are minimal and include (besides the material), fusible webbing (like Wonder Under or Heat'n Bond) and a drop cloth. We'll also need some sort of measuring tool and an iron and ironing board to put it all together.
Mandi says that although it isn't a 'heavy duty rug weight,' the resulting floor cloth 'is still really substantial.' If you're wondering about it 'slipping,' this tip from Martha might work. As for Mandi's tutorial, click here go to that page on her website, Vintage Revivals.
