Feeding the Birds with a Modern Flair

Feeding the Birds with a Modern Flair

Nothing gives me more pleasure when visiting street fairs than to find something handmade and gorgeous that I've never seen before. That's just what happened this weekend at Excelsior, MN's Apple Day. In one of the vendor booths, I spotted these simple yet elegant modern/minimal/zen bird treats. Jule Rentz hand-makes them using a food-grade binder and a squirrel resistant  seed—the blend doesn't appeal to the bushy vermin's taste buds. Prices range from $16 to $26 for treats like the ones pictured above and below, but Jule also offers a  Trim-the-Tree version which consists of 25 perfectly formed eggs that can be used inside to decorate your Christmas tree. After the holiday, when the tree comes down, you can move them to a tree outdoors and give the birds something to celebrate too. For more information and to order, visit Jule's website julesloft.com.
