Cayce Zavaglia’s portrait work might look as if it’s done in oil. It isn’t. And although she considers them paintings, they aren’t. Not in the strictest sense, anyway. No, Cayce’s medium is wool. That’s right, these works are, essentially, embroidery. To be specific, crewel embroidery. For those who compartmentalize crafts and Art, and therefore elevateone over the other, I ask, is this not Art?
