Before you spring for the (hollow laminate) version of this leaning shelf from one of those pricey catalogs, consider making a quick trip to your hardware store instead! You’ll save money AND get a better quality product: win-win!
The good folks at the Lowe’s blog (seriously my new favorite DIY blog — they have tutorials for everything) have happily shared this detailed tutorial for making your own modern leaning shelf! It’s tagged under their “beginner” skill level projects, so if you’re new to woodworking don’t be scared. Here’s what you’ll need:
- (4) 1″ x 12″ x 6′ red oak boards
- (2) 8-packs of #8 x 1-1/2 flathead wood screws
- wood glue
- satin polyurethane
- table saw or miter saw
- clamps
- drill
- screwdriver
- sandpaper
- tape measure
Not too intimidating, right?? Once you’ve gathered all your materials, hit up the Lowe’s Creative Ideas blog for all the steps (there are only 8; easy peasy).
