Reupholstering furniture is a big investment. Not only is the work expensive, but the fabric can be, too! The folks at Spruce blogged some smart tips to help pick the right fabric for the job.
The most important thing to consider first is scale. How big is your piece? Is it a small chair cushion? In that case, a broad pattern is probably not the best choice since you won't see a lot of it. Picking something with a smaller repeat (how many inches until the pattern repeats itself) will be a better choice.
Next, think about what you like: color, pattern, texture and sheen. And, consider what the room you intend to put the piece in needs. If you have a solid color sofa already, you may want to do something more bold with your chair, for example.
