My Colortopia: It Can Be Easy to Choose Paint Colors

I don't know about you, but that giant wall of color swatches at the home improvement store scares me to death. Whenever Alicia and I are painting a new room, we walk up to the paint department and I just stand there, mute, hoping she won't make me be the one to choose a color.

Well, Glidden paint has a new online tool that may eventually make the color-swatch-wall-paralysis problem moot.  It's called My Colortopia – a place where color-noobs and color-lovers alike can get advice on interior design and painting decisions. The team of advisors is full of bloggers and designers you know, like Ana White, Nicole Balch (Making It Lovely), and Kate Riley (Centsational Girl).

The cool thing is, they have a tool where you can upload a photo that inspires you, and get a color combination extracted from it! Click here to try it for yourself.

I grabbed a photo I love from our winter vacation this year, and uploaded it into the My Image Inspiration tool, and instantly came with a color pallet that would've taken me half an hour at the swatch-wall-of-doom:

There's also a cool 'My Life My Colors" quiz (I blogged about it a few months ago) that will help determine what colors suit your personality and lifestyle.

I have partnered with Glidden/Akzo Nobel Paints to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
