Groovy Gradients: An Ombré Stained Dresser Makeover!

Groovy Gradients: An Ombré Stained Dresser Makeover!

Ombré was a big, huge deal last year, but this makeover takes a unique spin on the DIY decor trend!

created at: 01/09/2012

Most ombré or gradient projects we've come across have been painted, so seeing the technique put into practice in such a unique way is refreshing.  Using various shades of wood stain, Julia from 551 East Design gave this old dresser a fresh makeover while still preserving the character of the piece.  No paint on this antique!  I, for one, love how it turned out.  What do you guys think?  Check out more of this dresser makeover on 551 East Design.

Wow finally a make over that didn't include paint! I'm lovin' it. I must add that I live a different life than you youngen's do because my first thought of the top drawer pulls was old fashioned glasses. Ha ha ha! You all are too funny.

I like this, while the pulls could be prettier, the over all effect is nice.

Bruno, I thought the same thing (heh, nipple rings).  The pulls throw it off a little for me, but I like the overall effect of the staining technique!

@Bruno: Funny, my first thought was nipple rings also!. Besides the top drawers I really like it.

I like it, but the top drawer pulls aren't for me; they look like nipple rings.

I'm sorry but this is plain ugly

Katie - I know what you mean and yes, this version is so lovely!

I was worried when I read "ombré," but this looks wonderful: rustic yet clean, old but new.
