Functional Art: A Garage Sale Find Gets a Painterly Makeover!

We've all seen them; they're at every yard sale and garage sale across the globe: plain, boring, or otherwise uninteresting pieces of furniture.  But if there's one thing to be learned from our many Makeover Monday posts, it's this: think twice before you pass them up!  With a little creativity and skill, the potential to transform those forgotten pieces is virtually limitless!

You may remember this festive vinyl furniture revamp from a while back.  Reuben Munoz, the man behind that fantastic makeover, is at it again!  This time he brings his creativity, love of color, and a few bottles of fabric paint to a $5 garage sale find.  The canvas-clad chair was in great condition when he found it but, like his vinyl furniture, lacked personality.  Ultimately, he went with a "bold, graphic scene of cactus sun worship", creating a piece of functional art that fit the style and vibe of his Southern California ranch house.  The whole transformation, including step-by-step photos of the process, can be found on Reuben's blog Rancho Reubidoux.
