It's so cute! I especially love the chair.

I really love this piece.. I wish I could have one just like it.  It would be great in my kitchen decor.

I think this is a Cado wall system.

We had something similar in the late 70s, not as complicated as that one but quite similar. It was sold as a kitchen cabinet with two doors in the top third, a let down flap in the middle and two more doors in the centre.  It proved to be a liability as, if you leaned too hard (or a child pulled on it) on the lowered flap, the whole thing fell forward - we fastened it to the wall. Eventually it became unwanted in the kitchen so I more or less cut it in two, removing the centre section, and put matching tops on both resulting pieces and produced two identical cupboards, which were in use as bedside cabinets until a while ago, they have now been relegated to storage in the utility.

That doesn't help you with how to make one, I would think it would be quite complicated, but maybe you could start with some of those box units similar to these http://www.thefurniture.com/store/PLSKI-650553-552-550.htm

I haven't a clue about it's providence, but I do have an idea about how you could DIY something a bit like it, if you don't have a mastercraftmen's level of carpentry but you can wield a drill.

You could theoretically Ikea hack it, using the Bravad freestanding kitchen system. You could start with the Bravad Countertop $189, flipped upright. Then attach a couple of the Bravad Wall Shelves, $39 - $49 in various sizes to the countertop 'back'. You'd have to attach the whole setup to the wall with some pretty serious hardware.

If I was doing this I would make the desk component out of the the Grundtal Dish Rack, sounds weird I know but, it's just the right size to hold a laptop and keep it nice and cool. Also, it's kind of shiny.

In the 60s there was a Danish company that sold cabinets like the one with a solid door  in the picture, but they were mounted on rails, not a solid wood back piece.

My first impression was that this was a desk, but it looks like a turntable? So it's an entertainment center, with a place to put the LP you were listening to/magazine on the lower right shelf possibly?

Okay, let me pull up my rocker and see if memory serves...

This looks like a piece that was sold by This End Up and like companies in the early-mid seventies. It was sort of like milk crates for grown ups, if you will.  I can remember that sort of thing in houses waaaay back then.  This is only a guess, mind you.   I have a smaller piece something like this that confounded me so profoundly when I saw it in the thrift store that I had to have it.  It has no definable purpose just shelves and cubbies in an odd jutty-ish arrangement.  Had big plans for it---endless possibilities and all that.  Could be a desk...microwave stand(microwaves were MAMMOTH back then)...any sort of storage...

Long story short, I finally dug it out of my son's closet, slapped outdoor paint on it and made it a potting/storage bench of sorts.  Just a really weird piece. 

The piece in the photo is much bigger and more dining-roomy, but I can see my odd little piece fitting in with it.
