There are three ancient peony bushes in the front garden. One is white, and like many heirloom varieties, it was bred for scent. This one flower filled the room with its rich, spicy scent for days. My only complaint about peonies is their season is just too damn short. If I could, I'd surround myself with decadently packed vases of peonies all year round.
