Laptop oriented desk

By votive

I currently use my spare bedroom as an office and storage area. A large part of the room is occupied by an enormous desk. What I would like to do is replace the desk with a much smaller desk, ideally with storage space so that I can turn the room into a study & spare bedroom combined.

This leads me to my question. Has anyone been able to find in the UK a small desk that is oriented towards laptop computing? All the computer desks I've seen include space for a base unit and also a slide out keyboard drawer, neither of which I need. Also these desks don't usually look very stylish either. So to paraphrase:

Can you buy in the UK a modern stylish small desk, ideally with storage space that is oriented towards laptop users? (no slideout keyboard tray and base computer storage)

Any help would be greatly received!

Paul

This link:  http://www.plancanvas.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=38 points to a desk plan of my design.  I work exclusively on a laptop and must have stylish furniture.   Its not very large, and doesn't cost much to make.  If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thanks for your comments everyone, particularly the John Lewis desks, hadn't thought of them. They actually have a number of desks that fit the bill.

I've been looking for one that can be used while sitting on a chair, sofa, or in bed, but can't find one that is sturdy and doesn't look too "victorian library" or too much like it belongs in a sick room.  I'm almost to the point of just building something myself.  :o|

Hey Paul, I've just wrote a post for a really stylish laptop table that might be some inspiration for you (I don't think you'll be able to easily buy it in the UK though...)

What about a small writing desk, with separate storage that slides under it to one side?

Also check out the 'Tanna' desk from Habitat which is nice and minimal, if you want to spend a bit more:http://www.habitat.net/uk/apps/DisplayItem/genFriendItem?itemid=15821/product
