by on Mar 24, 2015

If you like having your tablet available while you’re cooking, studying, or just generally needing your hands free, then this tutorial is for you. Read on to see how you can make a tablet stand like this one using Sugru, a moldable glue that sticks to almost anything and turns into a strong flexible rubber overnight.

So, first, what is Sugru?

Well, you’re not the first to ask. Here’s a man with a cute accent with your answer:

And for you people who prefer reading over watching YouTube videos (all three of you): Sugru is awesome. It’s a moldable glue ideal for any number of household projects. Out of the pack, Sugru feels like play-dough. But it bonds to almost any other material and cures just by exposing it to air. In 24 hours, it turns into a flexible rubber that’s strong, durable, soft and grippy, and waterproof. It’s like magic from the future (seriously, learn more here).

Sugru is available now at Lowes

Anyway, enough gushing. Here’s how to make that awesome tablet stand we promised you:

You’ll need:

  • A table lamp with an adjustable arm (an IKEA Forsa lamp works well)
  • Wire clippers
  • A cheap tablet case
  • Screwdriver / hex key (to dismantle the lamp)
  • Sugru (choose from 10 awesome colors)
