How to Make a Decorative Pumpkin Vase

by on Oct 7, 2015

This year, a group of Curbly contributors and editors got together to create an series of DIY decor and entertaining projects using that iconic symbol of the season: the pumpkin. We’ll be sharing our creations for the Curbly Pumpkin Challenge each day this week. Happy Fall.

Swap out your traditional vases this season and display your fall flowers in mini pumpkins instead!

What you’ll need:

  • pumpkin (I used minis)
  • paint
  • knife
  • small container (used to hold flowers & water so pumpkin doesn’t rot)

Cut the top off your pumpkin, making the hole large enough to fit your container. Scoop out the insides.

Paint or decorate how you like! Let dry.

Insert your container in the pumpkin, arrange your flowers and display!

This project is so easy it’s unreal. You could even whip these up before a dinner party if you’re short on decor (and time). If you don’t want to buy new flowers once these wilt, you can also just display these as painted pumpkins in your home.
