Lovely Laundry Room Makeover

created at: 03/25/2012

Capree's Laundry Room Makeover Roundup last week had me itching to see more! (Maybe it's because my laundry room is a bit dungeon-y.) Well, Bryn's was lacking natural light, not to mention, the function she really needed. See how she gave her wash-and-wear room some "dry clean only" sophistication.

Bryn added some task lighting beneath her upper cabinets, and installed a wooden countertop for a work surface.

She painted her cabinets with chalkboard paint. I think a laundry room is a great place to add this kind of texture. Bryn also glammed up the space with some DIY art and pretty containers for her laundry soap.

Finally, she painted a stripe around the narrow room and installed hooks to hang air dry-only clothing.

What colour is that blue/grey in the laundry? I love it and want to do my laundry in the same colour.

I have used magnetic paint that you also can write on like a whiteboard for the cabinets. Works great for useing magnets to hold items you don't want to lose. Use strong magnetic hooks to hold belts, etc. while washing clothes.

I love the sophistication she brought to the laundry room! Ours is not this teeny-tiny, but generally becomes quite a mess between the laundry, dog's food & storage, and the traffic from the garage (the door to our garage is in our laundry room). I have been yearning to bring it some life lately, and this post have given me some inspiration! http://adventuresofdutchandme.blogspot.com/
