Forget about ordering a floral arrangement for Thanksgiving. Look around your house, in the pantry, at your bowls to find simple and pretty vessels to fill with fruit, water, river rocks, flowers or even a branch from a leaf-barren tree. This arrangement allows everyone to see across the table while either enjoying the family, or self-righteously analyzing each other. We do a little of both.
What you need:
- large shallow bowl
- river rocks
- floating candles
- smaller clear vase for the middle
- orange roses or tulips
What you do:
- Place flower vase in the center of your bowl
- Add rocks to the bottom of the bowl
- Add water to cover the rocks
- Add water and arrange flowers in the center vase
- Spread floating candles around the center vase
- Place your arrangement in the center of your table and light the candles
Three little vases were too many for the candles to float so I went for the single vase with more tulips.
Other simple options:
long low oval container with three clear vases down the center
large clear bowl of lemons and limes with twigs of rosemary sticking out the top edge
large low oval container with a tree branch decorated with battery operated twinkle lights and other little flowers from the craft store
large bowl with another bowl turned upside down and a pumpkin or gourd on top, fill in spaces around edges with orange roses
large white bowl filled with bright green apples
large clear bowl with ruby red pomegranates, then place a pomengranate at each place setting with the guests name written in silver or orange metallic pen
