Make This: Simply Striped Baby Blanket

by on Jul 17, 2017

This project is brought to you by the following joyous news: I’m going to be an aunt! I’m over-the-moon excited, and can’t wait to meet my first little niece or nephew. That’s right, I said niece OR nephew, and that’s because the gender isn’t known yet! I’m too excited to wait around to find out whether it’s going to be a boy or a girl, and I wanted to get started crocheting a blanket ASAP. I made this gender-neutral baby blanket from a sweet sunflower yellow and cute mint green with alternating white.

If you’re new to crocheting, this project is very doable and hassle free. This gender-neutral baby blanket was made from only double-crochet stitches, and since the weight of the yarn isn’t too light, it was a fast project as far as afghans are concerned. Keep reading for the pattern!

Notes

  • This project is beginner’s level.
  • The dimensions for this project are 46 inches x 60 inches.
  • This pattern is written in standard U.S. terms.
  • For changing colors, I cut the first color a few inches from the stitch, then tied it in a knot to the second color. I then continued crocheting, and weaved the ends in later.

  • With Color A, chain 150. Turn.
  • Rows 1-15: Chain 2. In the first chain from the hook, double crochet. Double crochet across until the end of the row, for a total of 150 stitches. Turn. Repeat double crochet rows for a total of 15 rows.

  • Rows 21-35: Alternate with Color C. Repeat double crochet rows for a total of 15 rows.

I absolutely cannot wait to be an aunt. Being an aunt or uncle is the best – all the benefits of babies without any of the stress of being a parent.

  1. @Sharon Hi! Sorry about the links to the yarns not working – The brand is Caron, and it’s the Natura One Pound yarn in Bright White, Sunflower, and Pale Green. The links under the Materials section of this post should be working again, so you’ll be able to just click through. Thanks!
