There is a windchill of -4 degrees fahrenheit right now here in Boston, and the temperature throughout much of the rest of the U.S. has plummeted to record lows. And we’re only part way through the winter! So I thought today would be the perfect day to share some easy ways to make your home more cozy and inviting this winter.

It displays that to make home fell more cozy.

1. Knit one of these fluffy blankets for your sofa or bed… it’s cat-approved! Find the knitting pattern here. [Photo: The Purl Bee]

2. In my opinion, candles are the easiest way to give your space a warm, inviting feel. Arrange a cluster of pillar candles on a tray like René has done, or scatter tea lights in clear glass jars around the room. [Photo: Cottage and Vine]

There are many chairs surrounding the table.

3. Literally invite people to snuggle by placing a basket of soft blankets in your living room with a “please snuggle” sign attached. [Photo: Allyson Magda Photography]

4. Adding a rug is an easy way to add warmth to any room. Can you imagine the room above without the rug? It would be cold and not very inviting. [Photo: A Creative Day]

5. Buy a faux fur throw and toss it over a chair. Or a cheaper option would be to go to the fabric store and buy a piece of faux fur. (And that gilded “oh la la” pillow is pretty too… check out the tutorial here). [Photo: Poppytalk]

6. Bean bags are back! This fluffy version looks very inviting. Buy one here. [Photo: PB Teen]

8. Dry winter air isn’t good for anyone – your body will thank you for using a humidifier. And this one looks like it belongs on a tropical island! Buy it here. [Photo: Gizmine]
