I recently found a (somewhat ugly) little footstool at an estate sale, but I saw its potential the moment I laid eyes upon it. With a little paint and some new fabric, I had a bright new piece of furniture in my living room! Â Â
To create the new look, I started by painting it a matte black color using leftover latex paint. Then I chose a piece of fabric which I sewed to the top cushion. A coat of sealer protects the paint finish (a footstool has to endure lots of wear and tear).
Footstools like this one are very convenient because they usually have a hinged lid which hides a bit of extra storage. See what I store in mine over at Design Fixation.
