On The Set: How to Get the “White Collar” Look

by on Feb 16, 2011

Matt Bomer and Tim Dekay Talk White Collar

Before we begin, let’s take a few moments to reflect the being who is Matt Bomer. Not only does he play Neal Caffery, the main character in USA’s White Collar, he is without a doubt the most beautiful man walking the planet. (If you disagree, I’d be happy to argue the point in the comments below.) Now, on to the topic of this post: how to get the White Collar look.

Although Peter and Elizabeth’s house is amazing, its Neal’s loft that draws my attention and for more reasons than you might think, considering my intro. It’s an excellent example of an eclectic mix that reflects the wealth of knowledge on disparate subjects of the fictional person that lives there. That person is a little retro, a little mod, a little old world and a whole lotta interesting.

To get the look of Neal’s dining room, I’d consider a Deneb Laminate Table  paired up with some rattan chairs. For lighting, a Nelson Saucer Lamp and a very large wood easel on which to plan your next con is a MUST.

Moving into the living area, I’d go for a Paulistano slipcovered leather armchair or two, a Theater Sofa, a red Oglethorpe Metal Chaira turned wood floor lampan MCM slat bench and, of course, some old world art, preferably a reproduction. (Neal’s a forger.)

Of course the devil is in the details, which for this loft means lots and lots of books about art, history, art-history, cartography and the justice system. That last one to aid in how to skirt the law.

If you’ve never seen White Collar, I’d encourage you to do so. If for nothing else to admire the sets and those beautiful baby blues belonging to Bomer. (And if you’re lucky, he might even take his shirt off. Grr.) You can catch it on USA Tuesdays 10/9c.

Here’s another one for the road.

  1. I’d love your opinion on the color of the blue wall between the elevators at the FBI office. Is like to find a Benjamin Moore color match to it. I think it may the same as in Suits (I know they used some sets in common) and it’s a gorgeous colour!
