Left over Halloween Candy? Don't eat it! Do THIS with it.

You know how you feel about a week after Halloween, realizing you've snarfed about 10,000 extra calories in leftover treats? Not good, right? (At least I don't.) This year, instead of eating those sweet remnants, how about selling them? Doing so won't produce a higher number looking up at you from the scale, but it WILL produce a warm and fuzzy feeling inside because the candy will then be sent to U.S. troops overseas.

Here's how it works: It's called the Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program and it's sponsored by participating dentists in your area. All you have to do is take the candy in next time you or your kids have a scheduled visit. Dentists will give cash ($1 a pound) or sometimes a gift to you/your child and will then, in turn, send the candy to Operation Gratitude "or other Military support groups" to forward on to the troops overseas.

If your dentist doesn't participate in the program (my doesn't and I'm going to ask WHY NOT next time I'm in) you can go to the Halloween Candy-Buy Back website and enter your zip code to find a dentist who DOES take part. A great cause and a great way to avoid that leftover candy over-load!
