Trash to Treasure: A New Dress a Day

By: Diy maven Jul 06, 2010

Wanna get famous and sign a book deal? Maybe have somebody make a movie out of your life? Think of an idea like this and then do it. Marisa Lynch's determination to turn thrift store dresses into fun, contemporary dresses and documenting the journey puts her in the running to become the next Julie Powell of Julie/Julia fame. Not only has she committed to re-making a dress a day for an entire year, she has given herself a budget of $365 to do it. As of July 5, she had 146 days and $144 left to go. You go girl!

You can keep up with Marisa's project at New Dress a Day. And for inspiring trash to treasure projects of the home decor variety snag a copy of Curbly's Make It! Secondhand Chic.
