It’s easy for the kitchen to get disorganized. For me it happens when I’m in a hurry to put stuff away–groceries, dishes, linens. That’s why it’s not a bad idea to take a critical peek inside your drawers, cabinets and closets every now and again. To help us get our galleys in ship-shape we turn to Real Simple’s 24 Smart Organizing Ideas for Your Kitchen.
- Keep sticky and spill-able items on easy-to-clean surfaces, like lazy Susans. (Here’s my own little tip for the pepper grinder, which always has a habit of sifting pepper all over cupboard where it’s stored: Invert an appropriately-sized jar lid under it. The lid will contain the ‘pepper dandruff’.)
- Exposed recipe books look cool, but make sure they’re not exposed to humidity or grease.
- Exposed aprons and pot holders can look cool, especially mounted on sweet pegs.
