10 Tips for Photographing Food










If you want your foodie photos to look as yummy as those in recipe books, follow these ten tasty tips. Here's the Cliffs Notes version:   

  1. Pick a setting that enhances the food.
  2. Use natural lighting whenever possible.
  3. Practice color balance.
  4. Keep very still.
  5. Shoot tons.
  6. Get super close.
  7. Take shots of food prep too.
  8. Work fast.
  9. Pay attention to details.
  10. Don't shoot inherently unappetizing food!

I've heard lighting the food from above-and-behind, rather than the front, is pretty important. This guy - http://is.gd/bFlAq - and others Google helped me find confirm that.
