How to make a mantra mirror and start loving yourself.

by on Jan 28, 2009

A framed mirror has cursive writing on it.

I have a friend whose daughter ends notes she has written to herself with the closing ‘Love’ and her name. I’ve always thought it a wonderful way to boost one’s self-esteem. Jennifer’s Mantra Mirror seems to be another great way to remind ourselves we too deserve our love.

To make her mantra mirror, Jennifer assembled the following:

  • Newspapers
  • mirror with a wooden frame
  • 150-grit sandpaper
  • masking tape
  • small paintbrush
  • primer
  • acrylic paint
  • paper plate
  • satin polyurethane spray varnish
  • dry-erase marker or lipstick (!)

Basically, Jennifer sanded, masked, primed, painted and sealed her old mirror to perfection. Then, with the help of the dry-erase, she added alternating phrases to the bottom of her mirror. Some of her suggestions of mirror-worthy phrases include ‘Living well is the best revenge’, ‘Live abundantly’, and ‘Change starts now’.
