Paper Quilling an Intro

by on Dec 17, 2008

Quilling.com succinctly describes paper quilling as ‘the art of creating designs with narrow strips of paper that have been rolled, shaped and arranged to form designs.’

An old art form–some think people started quilling in China in 105AD–it came into its own in the 14th and 15th centuries when nuns used it to embellish religious art. Now fast forward to the 21st century and cast your eyes on Yulia Brodskaya’s creations.

Although not self-proclaimed as a paper-quiller, it’s what Yulia is doing in these paper-cut illustrations.

After seeing these examples and your interest–like mine–has been sparked, you might want to check out mypaperquilling.com for further info, history, free patterns & design samples and basic projects to get you started, plus much more.
