Make hover crafts. According to ‘Anonymous’ at makingfriends.com, ‘Glue a sports drink pull top over the hole in the middle of the CD. Make sure to leave the hole open. When glue is dry blow up a balloon and place it on the pull top. The CD with balloon [will] fly over a smooth surface.’

Very nice ideas of recycling old cds to them out of the landfills.

Glue felt on the shiny side and use them for movie night drink coasters. What better coaster for a media room?

Here in Athens we use old CDs to keep pigeons off our balconies. Loop string through the CD holes and hang them on a hook where they can dangle and turn somewhere on the balcony. As they turn they send sun reflections everywhere (a pretty side effect) AND KEEP THE PIGEONS AWAY!

DIY Maven-great list and love your picture.  If all else fails and you just don't want to be crafty, you can send them to Greendisk, who recycles them.  They have a pack it service for for less than 20 pounds using your own box, which is relatively inexpensive.

Get your friends and neighbors together and have a CD party.  (Any excuse to have a party is always a good idea!)  Collect them then mail them off.  Greendisk collects other techno trash too (ie floppy disk, plastic case, cell phones, etc.) Go to their website and check them out.  http://www.greendisk.com/gdsite/Default.aspx

I have been using their techno trash can for a couple of years collecting techno trash for my kids' school.  They are great to work with. anna www.green-talk.com

I wish I read this before I threw out a bunch of promos I got from work, ugh!

Nice tutorial, Hullion! Thanks for the link!!

Good ideas!  I actually made CD dividers for my CD rack out of some old CDs.
