Simply Clever: DIY No-Sew Pencil/Pen Roll

In a continuing effort to exercise my drawing capabilities, I recently acquired Christopher Hart’s absolutely delightful Doodletopia Cartoons (Amazon, $19). Following Christopher’s tutorials as I recreate his cheeky characters has become the perfect way to unwind before bedtime–except when one of my drawing pencils goes missing. Then it’s a frustrating game of hide-and-seek with the sofa cushions, pillows, and throw. I’ve been wanting to create some sort of “keeper” for my pencils but haven’t had the time to make one. Which is why Petro’s DIY no-sew pencil/pen roll is on my today’s to-do list because it will–literally–take only minutes to make. It goes without saying that it would also come in very handy for those who dabble with adult coloring books, and it’s a great kid craft to kick off an art-filled summer too.

The materials, which are minimal, are staples in our craft supplies stash and include some leftover fleece or felt, scissors, a bit of ribbon and Petro’s pencil roll template (found at Craftsy). For the entire tutorial, head on over to Creative Homemaking.
