Dramatic Kitchen Makeover

This kitchen makeover was not a DIY. The folks behind it are Westhaven Builders, and whether you like the final design or not, I'm sure you'll agree that it's a dramatic one. Windows and doors were moved to  get the layout right. A new bead board ceiling was installed as were granite countertops and a quartz back splash. Take a look at what the kitchen looks like now:

If you're putting in new, why wouldn't you take those cupboards to the ceiling? To me, leaving that much of a gap just looks cheap and shortsighted! Also I can't even imagine the amount of scunge that backsplash is going to atract and hold on to! And I agree with KLynn - the lowers would look better white. I do like the beadboard ceiling.

The range hood looks horrible in that kitchen.  I like the cabinets, but I would prefer the lowers to be white as well to brighten up the room.  Surprising that this was professional and not diy.

this kitchen is a hot mess....  Tradional cupboards and mouldings, euro style contemporary handles,  chunky lodge style backsplash, shiny dark countertops,a nd those oversized for the space appliances, and rounded hood vent.  All that was missing was an out of place apron sink thank god they reined it in there.

I prefer something much lighter. I think a kitchen should be light and open and cheery. This one is too dark for my tastes.
