Jenna’s One-Hour DIY Kitchen Island

by on May 23, 2014

Rain on a Tin Roof

Jenna confirms that the hardest part of her DIY kitchen island was figuring out how to construct it. Once that was done, the island took about an hour to build. That, however, doesn’t include the installation of the Silestone Bianco River countertop, which was installed by a pro. (Although a pre-cut rectangular slab of anything can be a fairly easy DIY job.) Jenna apologizes for the lack of blow by blow pictures in her how-to, but that was because she wasn’t sure if the island would turn out! She does, however, give a nice description of how it went together to see us through a build of our own. She used quite a bit of reclaimed lumber, but it isn’t necessary. If, however, you love the barn wood shelf, check out Suzy’s quick and easy technique on how to make new wood look old.
