Jazzy 9 Hour Living Room Makeover

Imagine leaving for work in the morning, and when you return home that evening, your one-note living room has been transformed into an eclectic symphony punctuated with color. That's exactly what happened to Cari Hynes from  Westport, Connecticut. Designers Pat Healing and Dan Barsanti were responsible for the new look which they completed in less than 9 hours. I like the furniture placement in the "After" photo, but it has too much stuff in it. Not a big fan of the screen next to the door, either. Pick a pattern, guys!

Eeek, before definately. After is way too over the top. You can't move for stuff!

I like them both.  They both work for me.  Everyone's taste is different and that makes the world go 'round.  As long as the owner is comfortable in his/her own home, it works.  They are both great design in my book.

Definitely the after. The before is fine, but it looks empty, like a staged house in a cookie cutter development. The after is gorgeous and has a more functional layout.

The after us far better. The designers added a dining table with seating for four, a sofa, and at least three additional side chairs. Added interest in the color palette was achieved with an analogous color harmony balanced with the crisp white and few natural tones. Not to mention added textures and patterns. Nine hours? Works for me.

I agree with the others. Two is too busy, although I do like moving the couch over in front of the fireplace. There are just too many patterns and styles in the After, removing the relaxation and simplicity of the room.

Definitely before. I like simple and uncluttered. It looks more modern to me than the trinkets in the other one.

Far prefer the "before". It's soothing, a good base to build upon selectively. Room 2 is jarring and looks like exactly what it is: someone went to TJ maxx home goods or similar and plunked down a bunch of accessories. Cluttered and tacky, to my eye. Yuck!
