How To: Make a Riddling Rack

By: Diy maven Jan 15, 2013

I love riddling racks. (You know, those French champagne holder things?) I think it's because they're two-fers: champagne/wine racks + wall art. If we'd check on Etsy, we'd see sellers have many kinds to offer from prices ranging from $70 to $300, depending on size. The one pictured above is from Pottery Barn and clocks in at $249. The good thing for we DIYer types is they're really easy to reproduce. Here's a video that explains how to make one like the PB offering:

No instructions on how to make this lean-to version, but I'm guessing it starts with a hole saw. Of course, we'd want to devise an anchoring system to keep the rack in place.

But what if we don't have a need for such wine storage? We could use it to hold vases--made out of wine bottles, of course.

The rack is traditionally use for champagne.

Why can't the wine be stored, as shown in the first picture?  I thought that was ideal (to keep the cork moist)?

The second picture looks great and the vases too. I also think that the wine cannot be preserved for long time as shown in the first picture. Anyway, that's a great idea for DIY project. I also can't see the video.

@Albert, sorry it's being hinkey. I've updated the post to include a link (should have done that in the first place). Try giving this a click

In the first image... the wine is undrinkable if left in that position for too long, if the cap is cork

is anyone else having trouble with the video clip? it doesn't load on my computer.  I've refreshed several times and i get a player initialization error.
