A couple years back, Two Peas, Maria and Josh went all extreme makeover on their kitchen. Their documentation of the entire process is a demonstration of the old adage "It always looks worse before it gets better." Above we have a 'before' and here is a 'during':

Kitchen Remodel: The Big Reveal

Was all that destruction worth it? Maria and Josh think so.

The new kitchen looks fantastic, great work! A kitchen accessory that I have bought recently which would fit in perfectly in this kitchen under the cupboards to the left, is an iPad bracket (this is perfect if you have one btw :)). Just something to bear in mind.

I absolutely love the low hanging lights, where did you get them from?

Every kitchen should look like this one turned out.  It's light and open and absolutely gorgeous!  I have always done my kitchens in white in every home I've had since the mid 1980s.  When a kitchen is white, you know it's clean.  (Maybe the only good thing about wood grain cabinets is you don't have to keep things clean)?

Oh, put me on the band wagon with everyone else that is tired of the all white kitchen.

Love the new kitchen. I have an all white kitchen and a messy family and it's very easy to clean. Modern surfaces allow for that I think no matter whether they're dark or light or whatever. I have white quartz counter tops too and despite our tradesman's prediction of gloom and doom, the kitchen looks as good today as when it was installed two years ago.

I prefer the BEFORE kitchen, especially the corner sink and tile backsplash behind the stove. The all-white is .. well, boring and will show EVERY mark.

@Jeanio--Not to worry! The general concensus was that the before was better!! That reminds me of a makeover I saw on AT awhile back. The person made over their 'cheap' Crate and Barrel media console, and I was like, "harumph." It was MY media console!! Still love it just as it is. It wasn't THAT cheap either, now that I think about it. ;)

Oh no! My seven year old kitchen, which I thought was well done, looks like the before picture! Ah well, it's comfy for me. The after one here is quite stylish. I wonder how it holds up in family traffic?

Lovely ! - Provides a great summary of 90's to 2000's in terms of style! :)

I'm feeling inspired to get on with my own projects now!

I agree...it looks like an operating room....

I think it's lost it's charm.  It looks like every other "after" photo out there.

Wow! It's like night and day. Totally makes me want to redo every kitchen!

Nice if you like cold and sterile.

wow. is that even the same house? a lot of work for a lot of payoff! jealous!
