Nuts and Bolts = Drawer Pull

by on Jan 16, 2012

Erin remembered seeing this idea in an old issue of Readymade and decided to give it a go when the old plastic handles on her metal file cabinet broke. Smart, simple and cheap, it’s a DIY trifecta!. To see how she made them, visit Landsdowne Life.

  1. I saw this idea on here and went one step futher… I am building a custom recording desk that has slide out shelves that are hidden behind the stile (the upper horizontal face frame) of the base cabinets, I needed a drawer pull and I liked this idea. There’s just one thing I changed; I replaced the threaded-rod/bolt with a wooden walnut dowel that I fastened with two small screws into the ends of the dowel. The contrast of the dark wood against the zinc plated eye-bolts makes for a very appealing look. Thanks for the insight!

  2. Dome nuts on the outside of the treaded rod would be a nice touch. Could use heat shrink tubing to cover threads. Great idea for a replacement pull
